L'Amisole, the Moroccan association of solar and wind energies, which brings together nearly 70 companies, and the Syndicat des énergies renouvelables, today signed a cooperation agreement in Rabat, in the presence of the French Minister of Industry and Energy, Eric BESSON, and Amina BENKAHDRA, Moroccan Minister of Energy.
The two professional organizations, Amisole and SER, work to build strong industrial sectors in their countries. Establishing collaborations between Moroccan and French companies will promote this development.
Through binational initiatives, this agreement, signed by the Presidents of the two professional organizations, Ahmed SQUALLI and Jean-Louis BAL, aims to increase exchanges in the areas of Research and Development, structuring renewable energy sectors, training, and quality approaches. The objective is the shared industrial development of a Franco-Moroccan renewable energy sector.
Today, the Kingdom of Morocco imports 95% of its energy. To reduce its dependence, it adopted an energy policy in March 2009 largely focused on the development of renewable energies: by 2020, they will represent 42% of the installed electrical power in the country.
France, for its part, thanks to the Grenelle Environment Forum, has undertaken to consume 23% of renewable energy by the same deadline.
These objectives are achievable given the considerable potential of these two countries in wind, solar and biomass sectors. Cooperation between professionals on both sides of the Mediterranean will accelerate the exploitation of this potential.
Following the signing, Eric BESSON declared, "With Morocco, we want to develop a joint industrial sector in the field of renewable energies that addresses both the objective of fighting climate change and the objective of growth and employment. This is the aim of this protocol of agreement signed between SER and AMISOLE. We must strongly develop partnerships between the economic actors of our two countries."
The Syndicat des énergies renouvelables has 500 members, represents a turnover of 10 billion euros and more than 80,000 jobs. It is the professional organization that brings together industrialists from all renewable energy sectors: biomass (FBE), wood, biofuels, wind (FEE), marine energies, geothermal, hydroelectricity, heat pumps, photovoltaic solar (SOLER), solar thermal and thermodynamic.
