Meeting on the professional information and guidance system in Tunisia

Hafedh Laamouri, Minister of Professional Training and Employment, stressed on Tuesday, November 18, that guidance and information are the most important link in the training system in its three components (training, education and higher education), given their role in determining the future of young people.
Speaking at the opening of a seminar on the establishment of a national system of professional information and guidance in Tunisia, he indicated that the system of information and professional guidance is a mechanism for changing backward mentalities about vocational training, considered to be the refuge of those who have failed in their schooling," he said.
He added that guidance and information operations must be carried out by specialists who know the opportunities of the different professional specializations.
The Minister emphasized the efforts deployed to change prejudices about vocational training, indicating, in this regard, that 40 specializations in vocational training have been integrated into the university orientation guide of June 2014.
For his part, the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Information and Communication Technologies, Taoufik Jelassi, stressed the need to encourage initiative among young people, especially since the necessary infrastructure exists, such as technopoles and business incubators, while deploring, however, the lack of supervision and guidance.
The representative of the Ministry of Education, Kamel Hajjam, called for “putting in place an action plan on guidance and information that is based on a participatory approach with the different parties involved to strengthen the employability of young people.
Note that this seminar is organized within the framework of the development of professional information and guidance services in the national human resources system. Its aim is to launch a societal debate on the theme of professional guidance and information in order to rethink information and guidance.
The results of the seminar will serve as a basic support for defining the main lines of strategic orientations with a view to designing and implementing a national system of professional information and guidance.
