Key priorities for new hires: insights for a successful onboarding process

When a talent joins your company, the first few months are crucial for laying the foundations of a fruitful and long-lasting collaboration. At ReKrute, we wanted to understand the priorities of new hires during this critical phase, and we conducted a revealing survey on their expectations after being hired.

Key insights to refine your HR strategies

The survey results are clear: 60% of participants emphasized the importance of onboarding and integration. This figure shows just how essential a well-structured and thoughtful process is for new hires. Successful integration helps them quickly adapt, understand the company’s expectations, and feel comfortable in their new environment. It is, therefore, an investment that directly impacts their engagement and productivity.

Secondly, 16% of respondents consider the quality of relationships with colleagues and management to be a key factor in their satisfaction. Creating a climate of trust and collaboration within the team, along with harmonious relationships with managers, not only enhances the well-being of new hires but also boosts their daily performance.

14% of respondents prioritize career progression and clear objectives in the first few months. They expect a transparent vision of their future within the company, with well-defined goals to guide and motivate them.

Finally, 10% highlight the importance of flexible working hours and location, a criterion that has become increasingly significant in the current context. Although this factor comes last, it remains crucial for some talents, especially those seeking a better work-life balance.

Key expectations for a successful onboarding

This survey confirms that to attract and retain the best talent, it is essential to provide a structured onboarding process and foster strong human relationships from the outset. These elements are critical to laying the foundations for a fulfilling career within your company. By paying close attention to these priorities, you ensure your new hires get off to a great start and maximize their potential from day one.
