Tunisia - Unemployment Rate Decreases by 0.2 Points in the 3rd Quarter of 2013.

The unemployment rate in the third quarter of 2013 slightly decreased by 0.2 points compared to the second quarter of 2013, going from 15.9% to 15.7% according to the results of the National Survey on Population and Employment revealed by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Thus, the number of unemployed people is 620,600 out of a total active population estimated at 3,961,800.

Job creation is estimated at 52,900 jobs during the third quarter of 2013. In the third quarter of 2013, the number of employed people is 3.3412 million, divided into 2.4953 million men and 0.8459 million women. The unemployment rate is estimated at 13.1% for men and 22.5% for women, compared to 13.3% and 23% in the second quarter of 2013.
Comparing these figures to those of the second quarter of 2013, net job creation for men amounts to 12,900 jobs, compared to 13,000 jobs for women.
The number of unemployed university graduates is estimated at 248,400 in the third quarter of 2013, which corresponds to an unemployment rate of 33.5% compared to 31.6% in the second quarter of 2013. This rate is divided into 23.1% for men and 43.5% for women, showing an increase of 2.2 points for men and stagnation for women compared to the second quarter of 2013.

Regarding the distribution of employed people by sector of activity, 495,100 people work in the agriculture and fishing sector, 640,400 in the manufacturing sector, 503,900 in the non-manufacturing sector, and 1,691,300 in the service sector, compared to 507,400, 622,600, 480,000, and 1,692,600 respectively in the second quarter of 2013.
