Tunisia - Employment: List of Beneficiaries of the Small Business Creation Program

The list of beneficiaries of the small business financing program will be announced at the end of March, Employment Minister Abdelwaheb Maatar said on Friday.
This program will provide jobs for 40,000 to 50,000 job seekers in 2013, he said during a workshop on financing the creation of small businesses held at the National Training Center for Trainers and Training Engineering in Radès. More than 150 associations from different regions of the country attended.
The Ministry of Employment will begin reviewing the applications of those who were not selected, to allow them to benefit from this mechanism through the National Employment Fund.
"Those who did not benefit from this program in 2012, despite meeting the criteria, will benefit in 2013," said Mr. Maatar, indicating that more than 200 million dinars were allocated from the state budget for this program.
Mr. Maatar also noted that a regional council for vocational training and employment will be set up in all governorates. These councils will be responsible for managing the employment budget according to the specific needs of each region, with the participation of associations and civil society.
"We all share responsibility for employment, and we are all aware of the need to keep this issue away from partisan calculations or political debates," Mr. Maatar added.
