Over 100,000 employment actions were completed in 2012 and the unemployment rate will decrease in 2013, indicated the Minister of Professional Training and Employment, Abdelwaheb Maatar, during a meeting Monday with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
During this meeting, Mr. Maatar presented the main points of the national employment strategy, developed by the ministry in coordination with other structures and approved by the government on January 11.
This strategy is a national roadmap to reduce the unemployment rate to less than 10% over the next five years, said the minister.
He also reviewed the actions taken for the restructuring of the national employment fund and the upgrading of certain programs to improve the hiring rate of higher education graduates.
Reforms have been introduced to the vocational training strategy to ensure its adaptation to the needs of businesses within the framework of a true partnership with UTICA.
Mr. Maatar's meeting with the IMF delegation was devoted to the assessment of the current unemployment situation in Tunisia and the ministry's program on employment and vocational training in 2012 and 2013.
