The general coordinator of the "Destourna" Network cell in Mahdia, Mounira Saadaoui, stated that 80% of students from the final years at universities in the region prefer to get a job in the civil service rather than starting their own business, according to a survey conducted by the Destourna cell, targeting 100 students from the final years.
The same survey showed that the rate of female students willing to launch their own projects after the end of their studies is higher than that of male students, the general coordinator declared to the TAP Agency correspondent, during a meeting held on Thursday, in preparation for the World Social Forum, under the theme, "Investment and entrepreneurship", held at the headquarters of the Faculty of Economics and Management of Mahdia.
For his part, Chakib Zairi, an executive at the Mahdia Business Center, stated that this meeting-debate aims to raise awareness among students and recent graduates in the Mahdia governorate of the importance of private initiative in strengthening the economic fabric in the region and in reducing the unemployment rate among university graduates.
Representatives of the Solidarity Bank in Mahdia, the region's business center, academics, as well as a group of students and unemployed young people participated in this meeting.
