Tunisia: 27,500 jobs created in the fourth quarter of 2013.

According to the latest estimates from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), 27,500 jobs were created during the fourth quarter of 2013.

For the same period, the number of active people is 3,368.7 thousand, divided into 2,505.6 thousand men and 863.1 thousand women.

Comparing these figures to those of the third quarter of 2013, net job creation for men amounted to 10.3 thousand jobs, compared to 17.2 thousand jobs for women.

According to the INS, in the fourth quarter of 2013, the number of unemployed people was 609.9 thousand out of the total active population. Consequently, the unemployment rate stands at 15.3%, down 0.4% compared to the third quarter of 2013.

The unemployment rate is estimated at 12.8% for men and 21.9% for women, compared to 13.1% and 22.5% respectively in the third quarter of 2013.
