Some 44 young potential entrepreneurs from the Bizerte governorate have expressed a wish to invest in the crafts sector. They have just been selected as part of a national campaign launched at the beginning of this month to encourage vocations among young graduates wishing to become self-employed and, above all, to support them in their efforts.
Their applications were chosen in consultation between the Regional Crafts Commission and the regional directorate of vocational training and employment, specified the Regional Crafts Commissioner, Mohamed Nejib Jaouani.
These entrepreneurs, he said, have expressed their desire to realize their project ideas. The parties involved will intercede on their behalf with funding sources, mainly the Tunisian Solidarity Bank and the SME Financing Bank, to access the credit they may need.
The selected entrepreneurs will also be entitled to numerous incentives and other tax, customs and financial benefits, not to mention the benefits offered by regional development mechanisms, including the exemption from employer contributions to Social Security for a period ranging from 5 to 10 years, depending on the region, from the date of effective entry into activity, added Mohamed Nejib Jaouani.
He indicated that the awareness campaign, which has just ended, aimed to motivate young entrepreneurs to invest in crafts. This sector, he said, constitutes a major source of employment and does not require heavy investment, unlike other sectors, not to mention its contribution to settling populations and thus curbing rural exodus.
