Tunisia: 40% Increase in Job Applications in Siliana

The Siliana regional employment observatory's 2008 report highlights the dynamism of the clothing industry, which created 2264 jobs.

During the same year, 500 jobs were created by expansion and business creation projects in the fields of clothing, essential oil distillation, and marble and stone quarries.

The report notes the growth of agricultural investments, increasing from 9,213,000 dinars in 2007 to 10,732,000 dinars in 2008, creating 312 jobs.

Regarding job applications, 2008 saw a 40% increase, with 8.5% from higher education graduates.

Job promotion and employability improvement programs played a major role in improving employment indicators in the region, thanks to the promotion of interventions by various employment mechanisms, upgrading, training, micro-project creation, income source promotion, and professional integration.

The number of beneficiaries increased by more than 25%, including 12% of higher education graduates.

The National Employment Fund (21/21) intervention mechanisms contributed to the training and upgrading of 5148 beneficiaries, including 303 higher education graduates.

Furthermore, the Tunisian Solidarity Bank approved funding for 349 projects worth a total of 2,660,000 dinars. Regarding investment intentions, 40 projects were declared to the Industry Promotion Agency (API), requiring a total cost of 25,187,000 dinars.

They were expected to create 795 jobs.

As for projects launched during the same year, their number reached 33 units, contributing to the creation of 500 jobs.
