Zied Laadhari, Minister of Vocational Training and Employment, chaired an information day organized yesterday, Thursday, March 12, 2015, in Bizerte, by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank.

In his opening address, the Minister recalled the need for Tunisia to develop a national Green Economy (GE) strategy to achieve its sustainable development objectives and address its priority issues, including employment, poverty reduction, health, and improving the quality of life. He also called for work to identify high-potential activities and to develop a strategy and action plan to ensure the transition to a green economy, while ensuring the development of a national GE law.
On this occasion, the Minister indicated that in the Bizerte region, unemployment affects only 10% of young people, a rate lower than the national rate of 16%. As for unemployment among university graduates, it is 29% compared to a national rate of 31%. Mr. Laadhari announced, during this day, that a program for a green employment platform for young people in the region is being developed in collaboration with the OECD. This platform aims to create no less than 70 GE businesses that will allow the recruitment of 800 young people.
During this visit, the Minister visited the region's vocational training centers and the renovated premises of the regional employment office after it was burned down following the incidents that accompanied the revolution.
