Tunisia – GIZ: Nine projects selected for funding.

The signing ceremony for the projects selected by the Fund for the training and promotion of youth employment in Tunisia, at the initiative of German cooperation, was held yesterday, March 31, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation (MDCI).

The event, which brought together Tunisian and German officials, is, according to Noureddine Zekri, Secretary of State in charge of Development and International Cooperation, the culmination of a journey.

"This project will certainly create jobs for young people, especially in the current context where the country needs more than ever to address the issue of unemployment," he says.

Mohamed Fadhel Hassayoun, director of Bilateral Cooperation within the MDCI and president of the Fund's Steering Committee for Employment, for his part, considered that the choice of nine projects out of the 48 received was not an easy task for the jury, given that several of them met the jury's selection criteria.
Speaking on the fund's objectives and its strategic axes, Hildegard Vogelmann, project manager, explained that the project's axes focus on vocational training, the development of entrepreneurship, the integration of young people into the professional world and innovation in craft trades.
A close examination of the selected projects reveals that they meet the Fund's strategic objectives.
As for the "Mobile Training Center" project of the Bouzguenda Frères public works company, it aims to set up a rather innovative training concept: on-site training through two mobile platforms that combine theoretical and practical training.
As for the CORPS project (Orientation, retraining and placement center), it aims to address the mismatch between supply and demand for employment by focusing on retraining. This project meets the strategic objective of professional integration.
For its part, the Tunisian Association for Cultural Action is interested in promoting youth agricultural employment in rural areas in Regueb, in the Sidi Bouzid governorate. The idea stems from the observation of a shortage of agricultural labor in Sidi Bouzid. Therefore, the project in question proposes to train unskilled young people in this sector on site.
As for the Campagne Association, it has chosen to target young people from Cité Ettadhamen, in the Ariana governorate, to facilitate access to training for young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods.
Knauf Tunisia, based in Meknassy in the Sidi Bouzid governorate, has set itself the objective, through its project, of offering practical training to young job seekers in the plaster sector, through the establishment of a center planned for this purpose.
Similarly, the promoter Verre Soufflé Sadika (VSS) proposes training and integration of artisans in the blown glass sector. The project promoter explained that her project meets international standards.
In Tozeur, the Association for the Safeguarding of the Medina of Tozeur has chosen to consolidate and promote employment in the tourism sector while respecting the characteristics of the city.

As for Generation d'avenir, based in Djerba, promoter of a project in gastronomy, it provides young people seeking training in catering with an application restaurant for both theoretical and practical training, and a skilled workforce for tourist establishments.
For its part, the Gafsa-Sud Development Association centers its project on regional heritage by identifying "the best craftswomen in weaving in the region in order to train them, supervise them through technical training and managerial apprenticeship cycles and support them to ensure their integration into economic life."
