Tunisia: Ennahli Industrial Zone Project to Create 10,000 Jobs

The Ennahli industrial zone project (Ariana governorate), planned as part of a partnership with the Turkish Ostim group, will boost investment and generate thousands of jobs.

Ostim group considers the industrial zone's location very suitable for investment in the light, value-added industries sector, meeting environmental standards with the establishment of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) belonging to foreign companies. Around 10,000 jobs will be created.

This is a major project that will give a new economic boost to the region and create jobs.

The Industrial Land Agency (AFI), which has already started developing the first 100-hectare phase of the zone, is carrying out technical studies related to the zone's development and is calling for plots that comply with technical standards. "The Turkish project is extremely important, and its completion depends on political will that will notably shorten the time taken for administrative procedures," stressed an AFI official to the TAP agency.

For her part, Ilhem Idoudi, the regional director of State lands and land affairs in Ariana, indicated to the same source that "more than 49 hectares of the Ennahli industrial zone are still subject to litigation, despite considerable progress in land expropriation procedures for the project." she stressed.

"There are no problems with the Ministry of Agriculture, particularly the forestry department, or the Ministry of Environment, given that the Ennahli industrial zone is classified as a forest area according to the Ariana municipality's urban development plan, approved in 1994, and the work carried out by the Ministry of Environment concerning the delimitation of the Ennahli park," Ms. Idoudi further affirmed.
