Tunisia: 25,000 Young People to be Recruited into the Civil Service

New competitive examinations for entry into the civil service are planned for next July and August to recruit twenty-five thousand young people as part of the government plan to reduce unemployment.
The draft law no. 7 relating to the exceptional provisions for recruitment into the civil service for the year 2012 was examined on Thursday by the General Legislation Committee in the presence of government members.
This decree provides, in addition to the recruitment program in the civil service through external competitions, the direct recruitment of a member of the families of the injured and martyrs of the revolution and the beneficiaries of the general amnesty.
The constituents requested the implementation of mechanisms to control recruitment and the involvement of civil society in this action. They also requested the publication of the lists of successful and unsuccessful candidates in these competitions.
Furthermore, some constituents proposed amendments to the bill to allow people over 45 years of age to participate in these competitions.
