· Partial move to the new headquarters this September
· The company will have 1,900 employees starting this month
The Dell platform in Casablanca is stepping up a gear. It is starting this month to partially transfer to the Casanearshore park. This is a significant event for the company, making it one of the pioneers of offshoring operations in Morocco.
The brand new site will be 100% operational in 2010. At the same time, the company will increase its workforce to 1,900 employees this September.
By the beginning of 2009, the number will rise to 2,000. New recruits undergo a minimum 5-week induction program to learn about the company culture, techniques, and values. As a reminder, in just 5 years, the company has grown from zero to 1,900 employees. This is because Dell Morocco now handles new markets, including Belgium, Canada, and Scandinavian countries.
Dell SAS was created in 2003 (see www.leconomiste.com). Since then, the platform, connected to the Montpellier site, has continuously expanded its teams. Note that the Casablanca site is a business center that was not created with the goal of relocation, as it is linked to one of the main European platforms, the Southern Europe management.
Directly connected to the Montpellier site, Dell's Casablanca business center manages a large number of activities, mainly for the European market (France, Spain...). The choice of Casablanca by the global PC giant is also due to the strong growth of its market, cost control, and the availability of flexible and multilingual human resources in Morocco. Furthermore, offshoring is very popular.
With its new park, Casablanca is poised to become a preferred platform for Francophone nearshore services. The relatively attractive social legislation (48 working hours), the possibility of working weekends and public holidays... are all arguments cited for this type of investment. Note that the differences in salaries, charges, and administrative and social constraints between France and Morocco amount to €1,000-€1,200 in savings per month per job for the Dell group!
Morocco's main competitors in the call center sector include Tunisia, Senegal, Romania, and Mauritius...
The activity of the Dell business center in Morocco started mainly with distance selling, by phone or online, for a primarily French and Spanish clientele.
Today, the company operates with much more complex systems. The activity is mainly focused on financial services (credit recovery...), technical support services, export of services such as order processing, non-technical after-sales service (including management of internet orders for all of Europe), IT solutions, marketing, recovery, complaint management, logistics...
