Slim Riahi, businessman and president of the Free National Union party (UPL), laid the foundation stone in Kef for a beauty and cleaning products factory carrying the brand of the Serbian industrialist Biokimia.
The businessman announced, during his visit Thursday, May 30, 2013 on Express FM that this complex, which was to be built in Congo, has been redirected to Tunisia: "This project will cost 80 million dinars, MDT, and will create 700 jobs, including 144 executives (engineers, senior technicians...). It is capable of producing 290 products out of a total of 1000 products by the parent company Biokimia".
Mr. Riahi added that this complex, whose products will be sold at very competitive prices, will supply 30 to 35% to the local market and the rest to neighboring markets (Algeria, Libya, Mauritania...): "The factory is scheduled to start production within 12 months at the latest".
The investor also mentioned the Maktaris agro-industrial project that he plans to carry out in the Siliana governorate in partnership with the Saudi investor Safi. This includes, among other things, a complex of 15 units (flour mills, dairy factories, livestock farming, oil mills...) costing 600 MDT, which will create 5000 direct jobs and 11000 indirect jobs.
Regarding his future projects, Slim Riahi announced the creation of a private American university in Zaghouan and a paper mill in Kasserine.
