During the month dedicated to employment, Saïd Aïdi, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, announced the implementation of six major pilot projects, each generating 90 to 300 jobs. These projects will be carried out within the framework of a public-private partnership (PPP) and are part of the emergency employment plan implemented by the ministry.
In the transport sector, two projects were selected: the implementation of a passenger information system (PIS) in stations, using systems that broadcast real-time information visually and audibly. The project aims to improve the competitiveness of public transport. It also aims to create a network of SMEs to ensure the installation, operation and maintenance of the system.
The second project involves installing a railway geographic information system (GIS) to manage the assets, infrastructure and, ultimately, railway traffic of the Tunisian National Railway Company (SNCFT).
Another project focuses on the digitization of written cultural heritage, mainly consisting of manuscripts, periodicals and Tunisian books, as well as old and precious books. This will enhance and disseminate the collections of the National Library of Tunisia, the National Institute of Translation and Beit El Hikma through online services.
Three other projects involve digitizing written agricultural scientific heritage (approximately 14,000 books), enhancing the national agricultural map, and digitizing Tunisian tourist heritage.
These projects will take 12 to 18 months to complete.
