Tunisia-EU: An agreement for youth employment development

A contribution agreement for the development of productive youth employment in Tunisia and the MENA region was signed on Wednesday between the European Union and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The European Union indicated, on Thursday, in a press release, that it is contributing 200,000 euros, 83.3% of the total project budget (240,000 euros). Furthermore, the same source announced that a participatory forum aimed at responding concretely and innovatively to the challenges of unemployment among young graduates in the MENA region will be organized on November 28 and 29, 2012, at the Kram International Fair.

This forum, organized by UNIDO and the EU, will bring together Tunisian organizations from the private sector and civil society, and unemployed young graduates from the most remote regions.

The aim of this forum is to encourage listening to the demands of young graduates in the regions and to develop a culture of entrepreneurship adapted to specific needs, as well as to introduce international best practices for creating productive and sustainable jobs.

It aims to develop pragmatic and consensual recommendations on the creation of productive jobs based on a participatory approach for the Tunisian government and other decision-makers in the MENA region.
