Four major agricultural projects are currently underway in the Sfax governorate, covering poultry farming, grain storage, and fishing, with a total budget of over 47 million dinars, the regional director of the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (API) told the TAP correspondent in the region.
Regarding the poultry sector, the regional director specified that a turkey farm has been created in the Aguereb delegation with a production capacity of 500 turkeys per year. A budget of 22.6 MDT has been allocated to this unit, which will generate 100 permanent jobs (including 16 technicians and managers). The project promoter obtained 1.70 million dinars in state credits. This project is very important for turkey meat production and will meet the Tunisian market's needs for white meat.
Regarding agricultural services, a private company has started a grain storage project at the Sfax commercial port with a capacity of approximately 41,480 tons and investments of 13 MDT.
This project, which received a 667,000 dinar credit from the state, will create 35 jobs (8 technicians and managers).
A similar project will be created in the "Poudrière 1" industrial zone, with a budget of 9 MDT and a storage capacity of approximately 18,000 tons of cereals. This project, which received 310,000 dinars in state funding, will contribute to the creation of 15 permanent jobs.
Furthermore, the fishing sector in this region has seen the commissioning of a new trawler with an investment of 2.5 million dinars, creating 13 permanent jobs.
