Tunisia: Launch of a National Consultation on Employment by November 2015

The Minister of Professional Training and Employment, Zied Laadhari, announced on Tuesday the launch of a national consultation on employment by November 2015.
This announcement comes in response to the call of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) which advocated for a national dialogue on employment in order to implement the second axis of the social contract relating to the national employment policy.
Present at a ceremony organized in Gammarth on the occasion of the launch of the project "Decent Jobs for Tunisian Youth", Laadhari specified that this consultation should take place with the participation of social partners and civil society components.
During this ceremony, the Deputy Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), Kacem Afaya, pleaded for the launch of a national dialogue to implement the
second axis of the social contract relating to national employment policy and to lead to the development of a national employment strategy.
This strategy, he explained, will be the culmination of regional and local consultations.
According to Afaya, this consultation should include the UGTT, the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Crafts (UTICA) and the government.
