The Union of Unemployed Graduates (UDC) announced in Tunis on Wednesday that it will soon propose bills to end the employment of retirees.
The organization of unemployed graduates, created in May 2006, held its first founding national congress this week, which elected a national office composed of 13 members, including three founding members.
"We will continue our action in all regions of the country to defend the causes of the unemployed, who currently exceed 700,000 in Tunisia, including 315,000 university graduates," said Salem Ayari, the new secretary general of the UDC and former national coordinator. "The UDC will continue its fight against intimidation and marginalization policies that have continued even after the revolution," he added during a press conference.
A campaign to collect "10,000 memberships" will be launched at the beginning of next June, Mr. Ayari also said.
The UDC is present in all delegations and governorates. It has 24 regional offices and 170 local offices.
