Before starting to write, take the time to think and make a draft to prepare your argument.
See if your qualities and past professional experience meet the criteria requested by the company; think about what you really like about this company, the working conditions, the job...
Cover Letter: 3 Paragraphs are Enough
First, indicate your full contact details at the top left, first and last name, full address, phone and email address. Remember to date your cover letter at the top right and indicate the recipient.
1 - Cover Letter: Hook the Reader
Never forget, the goal of a cover letter is to make the recruiter understand why you are contacting them, especially in the case of a spontaneous application; you must immediately arouse the recruiter's interest, it's a kind of hook.
Relate your current situation to the position, the job you are considering. Also consider defining in two or three sentences the vision you have of the company. "Your company is a leader...", "Working as a team on an innovative project...".
2 - Cover Letter: Talk About Yourself
This part of the cover letter is entirely dedicated to you; the goal is to introduce yourself to the recruiter and talk about your professional project by relating yourself to the position you are considering. This is also an opportunity to present yourself in a more personal way than in your resume, so the style of your letter is also very important.
You must demonstrate here that your application is directly part of your curriculum or at least that it remains consistent with your professional project. Summarize your knowledge, skills, abilities, experiences, hobbies... "Recent graduate in ...., I am currently looking for a position that allows me to put into practice...".
3 - Cover Letter: Be Motivated
This last part of your letter is the motivation itself. It should not only talk about you but also about the company. It must also demonstrate what you can bring to the company in your position and express what the advantages and benefits of your application are for the company. "Your experience combined with my initiative will allow...".
Detailing your motivation shows your recruiter if you have understood the job you are applying for and if your choice was not made out of desperation! A cover letter that does not take into account this dimension on the targeted company will not convince your recruiter.
End your cover letter with an invitation to stay in touch or to schedule an interview, and don't forget the polite closing and to sign your cover letter.
