Tunisian authorities and associations have decided to set up a committee to study the creation of a virtual technopolis that could generate up to 50,000 jobs over five years. A statement from the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training indicated that the project will be established, after its study phase, as a national program involving the various parties concerned.
The project involves creating a virtual technological hub covering the entire Tunisian territory. It will later be transformed into a technological village that will export remote intelligence services. According to Badreddine Walli, president of the Tunisian Association for Communication and Technology (ATCT), a stakeholder in the project, it does not require significant funding, and several countries, such as Canada and India, have been able to develop their employment capacities by strengthening this area.
Badreddine Walli highlighted the project's feasibility in Tunisia, due to the country's proximity to Europe and the existence of Tunisian expertise in information and communication technologies. The authorities, through the voice of the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Abdelwaheb Maatar, indicated that they would deploy the necessary capacities to bring the project to fruition.
