Webdays Agadir, an event organized by engineering students from ENSA Agadir on May 12, 13, and 14 at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of Agadir. Technopark Casablanca is the official sponsor of the event.
Agadir, being the second largest economic center in Morocco, needs to integrate information technologies to accelerate the development of its businesses across all sectors. The offshoring and information technology sector could become strategic for the region, fostering business creation and new jobs for young people.
Thus, emerging from ENSA Agadir, the public engineering school in the South, a group of IT-passionate students set a goal to make Agadir the second technological hub in Morocco after Casablanca.
With this in mind, they are organizing Webdays Agadir on May 12, 13, and 14, 2011. The slogan is "Vision Agadir Numeric," and the official sponsor is Technopark Casablanca, which will organize a business caravan to Agadir.
Webdays Agadir is not the first technology event organized by ENSA Agadir engineering students. For 7 years, Open Source days have been held, featuring round tables and technical workshops on open-source software and its importance in the business world. This year, the web theme has taken precedence given the recent dynamism of the Moroccan web.
Webdays Agadir will serve as a meeting place for web professionals and students to bridge the gap between the two groups. Professional round tables will address many issues directly affecting Agadir, such as the future of the IT sector in the region and the importance of the internet in the tourism sector, which is crucial for Agadir.
The Webdays program will include professional round tables, technical training, and conferences covering the following themes: Digital Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Web/IT Technologies. An original activity called Webdays Tremplin is planned to allow students to present their projects to a professional audience.
Vision Agadir Numeric
The event organizers believe in the inherent potential of the capital of Souss to become the Moroccan "Silicon Valley!" Agadir's quality of life and climate are major assets, and the opening of the highway connecting it to Marrakech simplifies travel.
This vision has been shared by Technopark Casablanca, which has been working for two years on opening a Technopark in Agadir in partnership with the city council, also a sponsor of the event. This will foster the creation of an ecosystem of innovative businesses necessary for the dynamism of the future Agadir Technopark, planned for the end of 2011.
The training offered by the institutions of Ibn Zohr University, including ENSA Agadir, is adapted to the needs of the information technology sector, which mainly employs engineers and technicians in computer science branches.
Location: Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of Agadir, Avenue Hassan 2
Date: May 12, 13, 14, 2011
Open to the general public, professionals, and students!
