4 Profiles of "Losers" Who Can't Succeed in Business

In the office, there are the good elements, the winners, the efficient, the assets, the sure things, and then there are the others… The burdens, the yes-men, the reactionaries, the envious, the anxious, the gossips and the conspirators. To get ahead, you must learn to identify the losers in your company, to avoid them, and especially to avoid being like them. Unless it's too late…

The Innocent

This fool (male or female) isn't mean, and that's exactly what's held against them. They swallow everything they're told without any critical thinking or suspicion, whether it's from their boss or a shady salesperson. They think, or like to think, that the company is a second family where communication should be transparent, where one can work harmoniously in trust and respect for each other despite hierarchies. Lacking a spirit of contradiction and somewhat lax, the innocent is often an unaware yes-man.

How to recognize them? They're the only one satisfied with their 20-euro raise last year, convinced that the company made a great effort.

The Routine-Follower

This one sees themself as the guardian of the temple, yet they're not brave in the least. That's why they rarely act alone. They were there "at the company's birth" and won't let you disrupt their work methods, tried and tested for ages. As meticulous and rigid as a librarian, the routine-follower will dampen your spirits with phrases like "we've already tried that" or "we don't usually do it that way". Avoid them and stay within the perimeter of the young recruits so you don't end up like them.

How to recognize them? They're the most welcoming to newcomers, whom they hope to bring under their wing. Always available to give you advice "to adapt to the company culture", they like to say loudly and clearly with feigned self-deprecation that they "are part of the walls".
