Most of the time, the "Do you have any questions?" part of a job interview is meaningless. Yet, it is precisely at this moment that we spot the right candidate.
It's a habit, almost a ritual. At the end of an interview, the recruiter always asks the candidate if they have any questions. However, after having recounted their background, described their skills, in short, narrated their achievements, the candidate has little more to say. They have sold themselves. Or, they ask questions to show how intelligent they are. The recruiter's answer matters little.
Good candidates, however, ask questions to get useful and precise answers. In reality, this is the moment when they evaluate you: you as an entrepreneur, and the structure you manage. And you must understand them. They too need to know if the company they are applying to deserves their effort. Their professional future depends on it.
What are the things that will accelerate the company's growth?
Good candidates want to know precisely what will make the difference for the company. This is something that cannot be guessed from a job description. So it's important to ask during the interview.
Because good employees have this in common: they want to do their job well. Moreover, if it allows them to increase their pay quickly.
What are the characteristics of your best employees?
To know what skills are most sought after, it is better to know what the best employees in the company are like. Are they hard workers? Is creativity the key word? Or, do they absolutely have to follow the stated method?
So many important things that you can't know without asking.
What do you expect from me in the next two months?
If a good candidate wants to know the long-term goals, they will want to give their best right away. Spending weeks getting to know the organization of the company doesn't interest them.
They want to make a difference right away.
How do your employees use their free time?
To give your best, it's better to be satisfied with the environment in which you work. Also, working conditions are important.
If a candidate for a position asks you this question, don't think that they are thinking about leisure before work, but rather that they are trying to guess the work atmosphere of the company.
However, if it's the first and only question, you might question their real motivation. It would still be surprising.
