Launch in Valencia of "Maroc Ibérique 2008"

The Minister of Industry, Trade, and New Technologies, Ahmed Réda Chami, recently chaired a seminar in Valencia for the launch of the first phase of the program to promote investment opportunities in Morocco to Spanish investors: "Maroc Ibérique 2008".

Launched jointly with the Hispano-Moroccan Committee, this campaign aims to strengthen economic relations between Morocco and Spain and explore investment and partnership opportunities. It is organized in six Spanish regions (Valencia, Catalonia, Basque Country, Galicia, Andalusia, and Madrid), according to a press release from the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and New Technologies on Monday.

During the seminar, Mr. Réda Chami highlighted Morocco's efforts to improve the economic business environment and presented the strategic axes of the sectoral development plans, namely the Emergence Plan for industry and the Azur Plan for tourism.

The minister also urged Valencian companies to take a greater interest in Morocco, emphasizing the geographical and cultural proximity of the two countries, the same source continues.

More than 50 Spanish companies, representing various sectors of activity, took part in this seminar. Other Moroccan speakers highlighted economic relations between Morocco and Spain, the incentive framework, business opportunities in Morocco, and key reception infrastructures, including industrial and free zones.

For his part, the Regional Minister of Economy, Finance, and Employment of the autonomous government of Valencia welcomed the performance of the Moroccan economy, calling on companies in his region to develop business relations with their Moroccan counterparts.

Mr. Réda Chami also met with the President of the autonomous government of Valencia, Mr. Francisco Camps. Both agreed on the need to organize a visit by a delegation of business people from the Valencia region to Morocco. Following this visit, the Hispano-Moroccan committee and the Investment Department decided to organize the second phase of the "Maroc Ibérique 2008" operation in Barcelona on March 28.

The Moroccan delegation also included Messrs. Mohamed Chaibi, General Vice-President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Mohamed Aref Hassani, Deputy Director of Investments, and Omar Chaib, representative of the Tangier Free Zone.
