20 world-class aeronautical prime contractors landed in Casablanca on Tuesday, March 24. A stopover with strong economic content. They came to attend the "Boeing Company Business Symposium 2015". The aeronautical event, organized by the Boeing Group in partnership with Gimas (Moroccan Group of Aeronautical and Space Industries) and Maroc Export, offered the 125 participants, from the European and American aeronautical industry, the opportunity to take part in promising BtoB meetings in terms of business opportunities. Boeing found the double opportunity, on the one hand, to share its experience in supporting the aerospace industry in Morocco and, on the other hand, to highlight its projects, its growth prospects and the development opportunities of the Moroccan aeronautical "supply chain". The number 2 of the American aircraft manufacturer, Ken Fisher (General manager for supplier management-Boeing), confirmed in this regard, before this gathering of professionals, the willingness of his group to "collaborate with Moroccan operators in the aeronautical industry and this, through the expansion of cooperation in this field". Speaking on the occasion, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, the Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy, announced that this meeting "contributes to strengthening Morocco's visibility as a competitive aeronautical platform", welcoming the fact that aeronautics has become a key sector for Morocco, which is increasingly asserting itself as a support base for supplying major aircraft manufacturers.

Increased Production Rate

The "Boeing Company Business Symposium 2015" takes place at a time when "the Moroccan aeronautical sector is engaged in a dynamic of sustained growth, initiated by the Industrial Acceleration Plan (PAI) whose vocation is to favor an integrated development of industrial sectors", according to Elalamy. Indeed, starting from nothing ten years ago, the country now has a hundred companies, provides some 11,000 jobs and exports 7 billion dirhams. The positive dynamic of the global aeronautical industry also augurs an increase in the production rate of major prime contractors and, therefore, of local production. And it is in this context that the extension of the MATIS Aerospace plant is justified. Many personalities participated in the ceremony, including Moulay Hafid Elalamy, the Minister in charge of Industry, Ken Fisher of the Boeing Group, Seddik Belyamani, Boeing Advisor and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Matis Aerospace, Valentin Safir, President of MATIS Aerospace, and Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi, President of GIMAS. This joint venture between Boeing and Safran took advantage of the presence of this galaxy of aeronautical leaders to proceed with the laying of the foundation stone for the expansion of its industrial site. MATIS Aerospace currently occupies 8,500 m² in the Nouasseur Technopole in Casablanca. The factory will be extended by 4,380 square meters, to accommodate, by the end of 2015, production areas and offices. The company currently employs some 800 people. It promises 400 additional jobs to reach 1,200 jobs by 2018. Over the next four years, MATIS Aerospace will receive 40% more orders, with the launch of the production of engine harnesses for the LEAP program, a new generation engine developed and designed by CFM International, electrical harnesses for Boeing aircraft, including the 777 and the new version of the 737 max, as well as the 787 Dreamliner from September 2015, in addition to the Dassault Falcon 5X business jet.
