Tunisia: 225 MDT for 82 industrial projects

According to the regional office of the Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) in Gabes governorate, 82 new industrial projects will be carried out in 2009, with investments of around 225 million dinars.
These new projects in the region should generate around 783 jobs. The region already has infrastructure, calling for increased investment in various sectors such as chemical industries, agri-food, textiles, energy, construction materials, industrial maintenance, and technological innovation…
There are also plans to increase support structures in the region, such as a business incubator, an initiative space, and a business center, in addition to two regional offices representing the IPA and the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency and a regional development office.
The city also has a diversified economic activity. As the country's fourth largest commercial port (in terms of traffic and turnover), it houses a significant industrial sector, specializing in the chemical industry. In the agricultural sector, 31 recently selected projects, with an estimated cost of 14.7 million dinars, should generate around 333 jobs.
