It is common for a recruiter to face impressive piles of resumes. They don't have time to thoroughly examine your cover letter to extract the most important information. A well-structured letter will not only pique their interest but will also save them time and effort. You'll be sure to make a good impression. We've put together some tips to help you write a well-crafted cover letter and convince recruiters.

1. Introduction: Get to the point

Traditionally, you start by specifying the position you're applying for, where you saw the job posting, and why you're interested. But why not be original? Start by explaining why you are the ideal candidate. And don't be humble! If there's one place to sell yourself, it's in a cover letter. Don't just state where you studied and worked. Draw the recruiter's attention to specific qualities and skills. Your resume contains all the "neutral" information about your education and experience. There's no need to repeat it in your cover letter.

Example:
"I saw on StepStone.be that you're looking for an event manager. For someone with my organizational skills, it's naturally a very interesting job."

2. Body: Provide concrete arguments
Use the following paragraphs to further elaborate on the why and how of your application. Explain your skills and expertise, and how they will serve you in this role. Illustrate your arguments with concrete examples of how you have used your skills in the past.

Example:
"As I proved in my last job, I can work effectively under pressure. As a project manager, I often had to meet tight deadlines, but it never scared me. This high stress resistance will undoubtedly be useful for this job."

3. Last part: Connect with the company
Once you've explained why you're the ideal candidate, also talk about the company. What do you know about its activities and corporate culture? Why does it attract you, and why do you think you belong there?

Example:
"X is a dynamic company specializing in HR communication, a combination that greatly attracts me given my passion for communication and people."

4. Conclusion: Summary and future meeting
Finally, briefly summarize why you can add value to the company, and state that you look forward to meeting the recruiter in person.

Example:
"I hope to have the chance to put my enthusiasm and efficiency at the service of your team, to add value to your company and to contribute to making X one of the leaders in its sector.

Hoping to have the pleasure of meeting you soon in person, please believe, XXX, in the expression of my best feelings."
