Delegate Some of Your Work, You Have Everything to Gain!

Every manager knows it: the only way to get everything done on time is to delegate some tasks. But in practice, it's not that simple. It's a matter of identifying the actions that take up a lot of your time and prevent you from focusing on the strategic issues of your position and delegating them to your colleagues!

You can't do everything yourself…

As a manager, successful delegation is much more than simply distributing assignments. It's more an exercise in understanding and accepting your own strengths and limitations.
In a world where time is the scarcest resource, you need to choose which activities to do yourself and which ones you'd rather delegate. Remember that you can't manage everything alone, not because of the limits of your intellectual and physical abilities, but rather because you lack time.

Delegate, not for lack of time but for skill gain!

It's nice to want to do everything yourself. However, your time is valuable and a scarce commodity for you managers. It must therefore be used to the best advantage, for missions that only you can carry out.
Time saving is not necessarily the only motivation for a manager who decides to delegate. The objective may be, in the longer term, to enable a colleague to increase their professional power or to remotivate themselves. In this case, the tasks to be delegated must be determined according to the expectations and skills of the latter.

Whether it's to relieve yourself or to meet the development wishes of a colleague, delegation is a delicate management act. By delegating part of your work, you will be transferring some of your powers. Too often, managers consider delegating when they feel overwhelmed or when an extra workload falls on them. However, delegating does not rhyme with "last-minute helping hand", and should not be a simple way to regulate the work of a department. It is a matter of entrusting new responsibilities to a colleague to better manage your workload and support their skills development.

Delegate for better profitability!

Delegation is a true management act, which has repercussions on the organization of a department's work but also on the motivation of the colleague to whom a new task is entrusted. It is quite natural to be able to delegate certain responsibilities and to trust other people in a professional environment. But don't spoil everything by exercising too much control!
Often, you are dismayed and you think that the work you have entrusted to a third person will not be treated as efficiently as by yourself! On the contrary! It is necessary to combat this feeling that makes you believe that no one else could do this work as well as you because in today's professional world, doing many things at once is more likely to mean that you are doing many things approximately!

It is therefore important to surround yourself with trustworthy people to help you in your daily tasks and, above all, to more effectively achieve your department's objectives. After all, delegating strengthens team spirit and leads to more satisfying results!
