Support services were provided to 193 businesses to help very small businesses (VSBs) as part of the "Business Support" project.
As part of the implementation of the Millennium Challenge Account Morocco (MCA) program, and particularly the "Business Support" project, the National Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (ANPME), one of the implementing entities of the said project, organized the final results workshop on March 19 in Rabat, with the support of the Partnership Agency for Progress (APP), the project's steering body. This workshop focused on post-creation support for 200 businesses created under the "Moukawalati" program, aiming to improve their survival rate and income during their first years of operation.
"This workshop was an opportunity to present a general assessment of the entrepreneurs' support operation within the framework of the project, the main objective of which is to improve the sustainability of businesses and the income of their employees," the project leaders stated in a press release.
Following a diagnostic operation, the implementation of each beneficiary company's support plan allowed for the introduction of new management tools and methods, the strengthening of entrepreneurs' operational capacities through technical assistance, coaching, and participation in experience-sharing forums. 200 businesses were targeted during this two-year phase (from October 1, 2010, to February 17, 2012). Of this total, 193 businesses completed the entire process, a rate of 96.5%. According to the APP, 53% of them operate in the commerce and services sector and 14% in agriculture.
"These businesses benefited from 3,400 days of post-creation support, which increased their turnover by more than 38% and their employment by more than 50%," a press release from the Partnership Agency indicated.
Indeed, the final results workshop revealed that businesses benefited from 2,965.5 days of technical assistance, including 409 days of personal and entrepreneurial coaching to strengthen the managerial skills of business leaders, providing them with the tools to take appropriate measures in difficult situations, in addition to the organization of 20 exchange forums.
As a reminder, the "Business Support" project proposes, in a first two-year phase, to offer post-creation support and technical assistance to 400 businesses created under the "Moukawalati" program and 200 income-generating activities created under the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).
Since the launch of this project, the APP has signed implementation agreements with the three implementing entities responsible for the project's implementation. These agreements define not only the practical modalities but also the rights and obligations of each signatory party. These entities are ANPME, OFPPT, and the National Coordination of the National Initiative for Human Development (CNINDH).
ES2 OFPPT Project
The Partnership Agency for Progress (APP) and the Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT) recently presented the results of the pilot phase of the "ES2 Business Support" project, during which no fewer than 200 very small businesses (VSBs) benefited from the project between January 2010 and December 2011.
During this meeting, several beneficiary businesses came to share their experiences and reveal the results and turnover achieved thanks to this support.
Indeed, the ES2 Business Support project, during 2010/2011, improved: added value by almost 30%, the survival rate of businesses (almost 90% are still active), the number of jobs created within businesses (increased by 50%), and especially the turnover for the 200 VSBs (increased by 30%). For example, besides the Maties Sono company, which saw its turnover increase by 4.9%, the turnover of Charifatex (clothing manufacturing) also increased by 4.8% and Rematour (textile supplies) by 1.3%.
