The sectors with the highest demand are tourism, automotive, aeronautics, and offshoring, representing almost two-thirds of job offers. In contrast, services and construction will not recruit as much as in previous years.
Moroccan companies, across all sectors, are hiring, but each at its own pace. This is what the latest survey by Anapec reveals, predicting 101,569 hires between 2013 and 2015.
Conducted annually for seven years, with the aim of better understanding the employment market and its evolution, the survey allows, above all, to anticipate significant recruitment needs in terms of quantity and quality.
What are the major sectors of activity in the employment market? And what are their projected recruitment needs?
According to the results of the study conducted during the first two quarters of this year, the workforce needs expressed by companies differ from one sector to another.
Thus, companies operating in the hospitality and restaurant sector expect to recruit 22,731 people between 2013 and 2015. Those operating in the automotive and aeronautics sectors need 20,219 recruits, offshoring and new information technologies 14,933 recruits, and construction 7,695 recruits.
In other words, tourism represents 57% of the needs of the employment market, followed by automotive/aeronautics 20% and offshoring/ICT 15%.
Thus, even if the need is significant, there is no big surprise concerning the largest employers in Morocco, except for the construction and services segments whose recruitment dynamics have visibly slowed down.
Indeed, the services sector, whose average rate of new job creation was 106,000 new jobs per year over the last five years (HCP), will need 6,000 new recruits between 2013 and 2015.
The same goes for construction. If in 2010, the sector employed nearly 1,029,000 people, or 9.9% of the Moroccan active population, and created 63,000 new jobs (+6.6%), the year 2013 saw the destruction of no less than 39,000 jobs. Professionals in the sector have announced that they need only 7,695 over the next two and a half years!
The survey, based on direct interviews with decision-makers within companies, reveals that by region, 61% of national recruitment needs are concentrated in Greater Casablanca, Tangier-Tetouan, and Rabat-Sale-Zemmour-Zaer (RSZZ). That is 61% of all the needs expressed by companies. Greater Casablanca is in the lead with 24,885 positions, followed by Tangier-Tetouan with 19,917 and RSZZ with 17,761.
For other regions, Gharb, Chrarda- Beni Hssen needs 8,728 recruits, Fes-Boulmane 7,741, Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz 3,725, and the Oriental region 2,571.
