Consolidating the entrepreneurial ecosystem through public-private partnerships, supporting innovative projects, training and mentoring young people with an entrepreneurial spirit so that they create viable startups, and promoting exchanges between young project leaders in the Maghreb: these are the objectives of the first edition of the Maghreb Startup Initiative (MSI), a business plan competition aimed at promoting self-employment by targeting young, innovative project leaders in the three Maghreb countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia).
The competition was launched in May 2012 by the Young Entrepreneur Foundation (FJE) Morocco, in partnership with the Algeria Startup Initiative (ASI) and the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Algeria, EFE-Tunisia and WIKI STARTUP in Tunisia, and Education For Employment (EFE). Until August 31, 2012, the FJE welcomed some 325 young project leaders, exceeding the initial expectation of 100. Thirty-seven projects were declared semi-finalists, and the final winners will be announced on December 12, 2012 in Rabat.
