After the job applications of unemployed people in Tunisia, here are the applications for final year projects (PFE) from university students. These students are even launching desperate appeals online to find a Tunisian company willing to host them for an internship.
We used to see unemployed people desperately seeking jobs. But these days, the quest for a vacancy in a company no longer only concerns the unemployed in Tunisia. Finding a company willing to accept them for a final year project has become a real obstacle course. This is particularly noticeable in the Information and Communication Technologies sector, yet considered one of the engines of growth in Tunisia. And for good reason: there are no fewer than 50,000 students in ICT fields in our country. And finding them places is anything but easy.
However, the constantly evolving high-tech sector is renewing itself at a rapid pace. And therefore presents some glimmers of hope. Thus, the new operating system dedicated to smartphones and branded Google, is starting to attract people, even in Tunisia.
"We are receiving more and more requests from young students looking for a PFE subject on our forum," says Mr. Taher Mestiri, head of the Tunandroid.com site and representative of the Android community in Tunisia. Mr. Mestiri contacted the tekiano editorial staff to draw our attention to this new trend on the web. "Some of these PFE applicants sometimes tell us that they are in a state of despair. That no company will accept them and time is running out."
But is it due to a lack of ideas for subjects or is it really the fault of these companies? Mr. Mestiri replies: "Take the case of Android application developers. These young people must know the company's needs in order to be able to develop this application. This application will then be the subject of their PFE. However, these subjects will be the property of the companies in which these young people will spend their PFE. Therefore, Tunisian companies have everything to gain by opening their doors to students."
Mr. Taher Mestiri subsequently specified that he has about twenty spontaneous PFE applications. All on standby, waiting for Tunisian companies to agree to host them.
