Practical Guide to Boolean Search on ReKrute

Boolean language has 3 words and 5 operators; it is therefore a simple language (compared to a language with several dozen letters). However, many people still struggle to use them... Here is a simplified guide to using Boolean searches on ReKrute.

IMPORTANT: when you search by keywords, prioritize searching on "all themes", this will search your words in the Word or PDF CV AND in the ReKrute profile. This allows you to include candidates who do not have a complete ReKrute profile, but an updated CV attached!!
Here are the 6 operators you can use on ReKrute.
- AND
- OR
- NOT
- Parentheses ()
- Quotation marks ""
- Asterisk *
AND is an operator that combines keywords. It is equivalent to the space between two words.
Ex: Manager AND Recruitment, equivalent to Recruitment Manager
"Recruitment Manager" AND Sourcing

Now, you can broaden your search to profiles that include one or more terms; separate them with OR.
We use OR for alternative spellings, feminine/masculine forms, synonyms, translations, etc.
Ex: Recruiter OR Recruiters OR "Recruitment Officer" OR "recruitment specialist"

Then, you can use NOT in front of a term to exclude it from your search results.
Ex: Recruiter NOT Freelance

With this basis, you can now develop complex searches where you combine terms and query modifiers using parentheses.
Ex: (Officer OR Officer) AND Recruitment
This gives you the same result as:
(Officer AND Recruitment) OR (Officer AND Recruitment)
Or Officer* Recruitment
This will lead us to the transition to the asterisk: the asterisk, placed at the beginning or end of a word, allows you to search for all words that end (if it is before) or begin (if it is placed after) with the word.
Example: sales* will allow you to search at once for the words sale, sales, salesperson, saleswoman, etc. A great saving in alternative spellings!!
Or *logist NOT (astrologer OR geologist), which will find all candidates with a word ending in "logist", such as cardiologist, oncologist, urologist, neurologist, dermatologist, etc. but without the cases of non-medical functions.
Finally, the quotation marks "".
These are used to search for an expression with the exact order of terms or even punctuation.
Ex: "Talent Acquisition Manager"
"HRD" OR HRD OR "human resources director*" OR "human capital director*">
WARNING if you forget the quotes in "Talent Acquisition Manager", ReKrute understands Talent AND Acquisition AND Manager. That is an unmanageable quantity of untargeted responses
