Internet recruitment is taking off in Morocco. With the launch of two national job portals, job seekers, especially young people, are increasingly turning to this communication and information tool. Whether to find out about market trends or to look for opportunities, young people opt for the Net.
This change in attitude was noted in the latest survey conducted by Invest RH, which included 4,000 young graduates and executives. According to this study, the Internet is the preferred method of job searching. At 96.4%, it ranks ahead of the press (70.7%) and unsolicited applications (51.7%). It is also perceived, according to the responses collected, as the most effective means of searching, except for the oldest population (40-50 years old) for whom recommendations are the safest.
However, the most used method for recruitment in the surveyed working population was the Internet (28.4%), followed by unsolicited applications (22.2%) and press advertisements (18%). Networking is in 4th place and mainly concerns the 40-50 year olds, according to the survey.
Given the enthusiasm of young people for online recruitment, the Internet is now establishing itself as a key recruitment channel. Large companies are using it. According to the two national operators, the companies using their services operate in the service sectors (banks, insurance, commerce...), new technologies and even industry.
Some banks, multinationals and large groups have created sections dedicated to human resources on their websites, which highlights the importance of this tool in the search for certain profiles. Also, as more and more Moroccans have access to the Internet, it allows them to reach a large part of their target audience via the World Wide Web.
So how do you target your search effectively? For those who want to post their job applications online, there are two ways to find new opportunities: responding to job offers and submitting a CV to a job board.
According to Alexandra Montant, Deputy Managing Director of Rekrute.com, "in the first case, the candidate has a proactive approach, deciding to whom to send their application. It is necessary to carefully target the offers that match their profile and attach a cover letter. Recruiters, even on the Internet, expect a complete application, in good and due form." She adds: "In the second case, it is necessary to optimize your visibility on HR search engines. To do this, you must complete your CV so that all the keywords are selected as often as possible by recruiters. In addition, you must also regularly update your CV, because search engines generally show CVs by decreasing date of update.
Another important point is to write a good cover letter. However, it should not be copied and pasted from standard letters, which is unfortunately often the case. Finally, you must be patient. Even if the web has reduced the time it takes to send and process CVs, the process of finding a new job remains long, several months on average, advises the consultant.
