“As part of a new program, the World Bank is looking to recruit African PhD students, especially women. Selected student researchers will spend a minimum of six months at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C. to gain practical experience in development work. They will work on economic policies, technical assistance, and loan operations aimed at eradicating poverty and promoting inclusive growth.
The World Bank Group's Africa region is launching a recruitment program targeting African PhD students to diversify its workforce, a priority set by the institution. The goal is to build a network of researchers and professionals from the African diaspora. This program is particularly aimed at women who plan to work in development, in their own country or abroad, and who would like to join the World Bank Group.
According to Sean McGrath, Vice President of Human Resources at the World Bank Group, "this program is not only a great opportunity for young PhD students to carry out their research and gain experience in the field of development, but it also allows the World Bank Group to bring new energy to its work and its mission."
