ANAPEC builds its network of alliances: 8,700 new jobs in Casablanca by 2017.

It's hard to find better than a partnership bringing together the public, private, and civil society sectors to promote employment and fight youth unemployment. The Greater Casablanca region seems to have understood this. About twenty agreements are to be signed tomorrow, Wednesday, at the regional headquarters between the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC), the various prefectures of the Greater Casablanca region, as well as private sector players and the associative network.

The signing of these agreements should mark an unprecedented commitment by the region to promoting employment and fighting youth unemployment. The objective set by the stakeholders is ambitious, to say the least: to fill 8,700 positions by 2017. This is an even more difficult challenge considering that national employment strategies in recent years planned to provide around 20,000 positions nationally.

To achieve this, the main public sector players involved in employment issues will be present this Wednesday. Starting with the Minister of Employment and Social Affairs, Abdeslam Sediki, the Minister of Commerce, Industry, Investment, and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid ElAlamy, and the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Miriem Bensalah-Chaqroun. The director general of ANAPEC, Anas Doukkali, responsible for the key body of this recruitment campaign, will also be present, in addition to the Minister of Tourism, Lahcen Haddad.

According to well-informed sources, among the private partners who will take part in this ceremony are the Swedish furniture specialist Ikea, whose partnership with ANAPEC preceded its establishment in Morocco; the fast-food chain McDonald's, which announced its project to recruit 700 new employees via ANAPEC a few days ago; as well as the fried chicken specialist KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) and the recently revived amusement park Sindiparc.

On the side of non-governmental organizations, there will be Injaz Al Maghrib, the association involved in introducing young people to entrepreneurship, and EFE Morocco, specializing in "education for employment." It should be recalled that the signing of these agreements was scheduled for May 13 but was postponed for organizational reasons.
