In the framework of the "Skills for Employability" program, the British Council, in collaboration with the Tunisian Agency for Vocational Training, is organizing a training session for 56 trainers from June 6 to 17, 2011, at the CENAFFIF center in Rades. The aim of this training is to strengthen their pedagogical and linguistic skills.
This event takes place in the post-revolution context that Tunisia is currently experiencing. It strengthens cultural exchange between Tunisia and Great Britain. It also highlights the advantages of opening up to new strategies to boost employment policy, where English has been identified as a strategic priority for the future of employability in Tunisia.
Thus, the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment, and in particular the Tunisian Agency for Vocational Training (ATFP), prioritize the continuous improvement of the pedagogical skills of teachers in vocational training centers.
The training at CENAFFIF is the first step of a four-phase project, and above all, the implementation of the agreement between the ATFP and the British Council to promote the quality of training and deliver diplomas recognized by both parties, as well as allowing teachers to improve their teaching methodologies and gain professional confidence.
In this context, the ATFP and the British Council will work together to improve the quality of English teaching and learning, and to examine the need to develop training capacity.
The British Council's approach is based on in-depth research conducted over the past three years on the need for and role of English in the Tunisian job market.
The British Council will use its many resources and learning products to develop this training plan and achieve the objectives set, such as developing the methods, skills, strategies, and confidence of English trainers.
The specificity of this program lies in its continuity; the British Council training team will ensure that professional development is continuous, not only through teacher support but also by ensuring that the methods learned and new practices are cascaded to all concerned.
The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organization for cultural and educational exchanges. We are present in 110 countries. The British Council builds lasting links between the UK and other countries through learning opportunities and the best of the UK's creative ideas.
The British Council has been in Tunisia since 1962. Its objective is to work with partners from all regions of Tunisia to offer learning opportunities and share the creative ideas of the United Kingdom, thus establishing lasting relationships between Tunisia and the United Kingdom.
