The Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation (ATCT) recruited 830 Tunisian development workers by April 30, 2015, compared to 816 recruited during the same period in 2014, an increase of 1.7%.
These recruitments covered the health sector with 317 recruits (38% of placements), education and teaching with 273 development workers, including 141 university teachers, according to an ATCT press release.
Saudi Arabia is the top recruiter of Tunisian skills with 267 development workers (32% of total recruitments), followed by Kuwait with 137 and Qatar with 113. Arab countries are the main beneficiaries, with 658 recruits (79%).
37 recruitment commissions visited Tunisia to interview candidates and assess available human resources. The Agency also received 87 job offers.
As part of bilateral and triangular cooperation, 13 Tunisian experts conducted technical assistance missions, including 12 experts for a campaign against preventable blindness in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Djibouti and Mozambique, and one expert to lead a training session in fishing for Oman.
The Agency also organized three training sessions in Tunisia for 27 managers from 10 African countries in teaching and project management.
By April 30, 2015, 16,230 Tunisian development workers and experts were working abroad, while 28,956 candidates were registered in the ATCT candidate database.
