A cooperation agreement between Tunisia and France in the field of employment and higher education was signed on Monday, May 18 in Tunis, by the Tunisian Ministers of Employment and Vocational Training, Zied Ladhari, of Higher Education, Chiheb Bouden, and the representative of the French National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (CNAM), Laurent Perez, in the presence of the French ambassador to Tunisia, Francois Gouyette.
This agreement aims to resolve the problem of the mismatch between market needs and the quality of the offer, in terms of skills and qualifications required, said Zied Ladhari on this occasion. The complementary and continuing vocational training offered by CNAM, he explained, will allow the professional reintegration of young graduates from higher education and vocational training, as well as accelerating employability.
For Mr. Ladhari, this partnership marks a considerable advance in the field of vocational training, in that it offers the opportunity to develop inter-ministerial partnership that will promote a coherent training system.
For his part, Laurent Perez announced that the Conservatory, which trains nearly 80,000 people a year in more than 100 fields, is committed to requalifying unemployed young graduates in all regions of Tunisia. It is also a matter of training trainers, promoting a dynamic of validating acquired experience and developing distance learning, including massive open online courses (MOOCs).
These distance learning courses (MOOCs), taught in French, will be transcribed into Arabic, he said.
At the higher education level, Chiheb Bouden specified that the CNAM will bring its expertise to Tunisia, particularly in the field of apprenticeship training, which is not very developed in Tunisia.
Under this agreement, a steering committee composed of representatives from the two ministries and the CNAM will be set up to launch a program of concrete training actions, in relation to the needs of the market and work. Note that this partnership is an update of the cooperation agreement signed on September 19, 2011 between the three parties.
