Staff Representative Bodies in the Company: The Works Council

1. Covered Establishments:
A works council is established in any company that usually employs 50 or more employees.

2. Composition:
  • The employer or their representative
  • 2 elected employee delegates.
  • 1 or 2 union representatives.

3. Main Mission:
The works council has a consultative role in the following areas:
  • Structural and technological changes in the company.
  • The social report after its establishment.
  • The company's production strategy and ways to increase productivity.
  • The development of social projects for the benefit of employees and the monitoring of their execution.
  • Apprenticeship programs, literacy training, and employee continuing education.

4. Operation:
The employer must provide the committee members with all the necessary documents to enable them to carry out their assigned duties.
The committee must meet once every 6 months and as needed
