Morocco boosts its competitiveness in the aeronautics industry.

The sector gets a specialized institute.

As one of Morocco's industrial successes, the aeronautics sector has experienced real growth over the last decade, with the establishment of more than 100 companies and the creation of over 10,000 highly skilled jobs.
To ensure this success continues and to boost the sector's dynamism, the Sovereign inaugurated the Specialized Institute in Aeronautics and Airport Logistics (ISMALA) in Nouaceur on Wednesday.
This initiative, part of a focus on sectors where the country has clear and exploitable competitive advantages, aims to strengthen Morocco's human resources advantage. In addition to the existing structure, the Institute of Aeronautical Professions, ISMALA, built with an investment of around 72.2 million dirhams, covers an area of 15,000 m2 and has training spaces and equipment that meet international standards, accommodating 2,000 trainees. It will provide a wide range of training. Among other things, it is equipped with a 3D flight simulator, 4 large and medium-sized engine nacelles, and a KING AIR 200 aircraft.
This new training platform will allow Morocco to meet safety requirements while maintaining the high quality of manufactured parts. This advantage allows our country to constantly seek competitive niches, which have become a condition for survival for the entire aeronautical value chain, given the fierce competition for new markets, particularly in emerging countries.
It should also be noted that Morocco has benefited from the favorable global situation in the aeronautics industry, which, unlike the general situation of the global economy, is experiencing sustained growth over the next 15 years. Given this restructuring of the aeronautics sector internationally, this industry represents a major opportunity, especially since the Kingdom is concentrating its industrial recovery efforts on sectors where the country has clear and exploitable competitive advantages, through the National Pact for Industrial Emergence.
The aeronautics sector, whose companies' turnover is estimated at 8 billion dirhams for the 2011 financial year, generates more than 1 billion dollars in exports and has seen average annual growth of 15% to 25% since the beginning of 2013. This represents about 4% of total exports and 25% of industrial exports. Admittedly, this is modest in terms of volume, but it is important for our country to be present and recognized as a player in the design and production chain of an industry recognized as the epitome of technology. This recognition will certainly attract more foreign investors in this field.
According to the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments (AMDI), the Moroccan aeronautics base, now considered the most competitive platform as a natural extension of Europe, enjoys credibility thanks to the presence of more than 100 international benchmark operators including EADS, Boeing, Snecma, Aircelle, Creuzet, Daher, Souriau, Labinal, Zodiac, Teuchos, Casablanca Aeronautique, Le Piston français...
