The trap of 'I'll wait a little longer to apply'

In many professional paths, there is a quiet, almost invisible, but very effective obstacle: that little phrase we repeat to ourselves, again and again.
“I'll wait a little longer.”

Wait until I'm more sure of myself.
Wait until I have more experience.
Wait until my profile is better built.
Wait for the right moment, the right energy, the right sign.

This waiting seems reasonable. It even gives the impression of being careful, thoughtful, and in control. However, in many cases, it becomes mainly a way to postpone what really matters: taking action.

Because in a job search, not everything depends solely on skills. There is also the ability to position yourself, to try, to be present before having all the certainties. Many candidates think they need to be fully ready to move forward. In reality, careers are often built imperfectly, with momentum, by daring before having all the guarantees.

The problem with 'I'll wait a little longer' is that it doesn't look like giving up. It looks like a pause. But a pause that lasts too long often ends up becoming a permanent postponement. We postpone an application. We leave a profile inactive. We put off an update, a follow-up, real reflection on what's next. And during this time, opportunities often do not wait.

It's not necessarily the most confident candidates who move forward. It's often those who accept not mastering everything before acting. Those who understand that an opportunity doesn't always come to confirm they are ready, but sometimes helps them become ready.

Waiting can protect from the risk of failure.
But it also exposes us to another, more silent risk: that of staying in the same place for too long.

Because by always wanting to be more ready, more legitimate, more aligned, we can end up delaying progress that could perhaps have already begun.

The right time is not always when we no longer doubt.
It's sometimes simply when we decide that doubt will no longer control everything.

Updating your profile, exploring offers again, responding to an announcement that attracts you, daring to reposition yourself: these are often small steps, but they can restart an entire dynamic.

On ReKrute, opportunities already exist.
Sometimes, the real decisive step is not to wait any longer. It's to choose to go for it.
