Despite the enthusiasm for social networks in personal life, several surveys conducted in France show that they are still far from supplanting employment portals. In Morocco too, job boards occupy by far the first place in the means of job searching, both from the candidate and recruiter sides.
The growth in the use of social networks in employment and recruitment is not happening in France.
Several recent studies (Adecco France / Michael Page Digital / SuccessFactors / Régionsjobs) confirm that candidates remain quite conservative in their approach and underutilize professional social networks, in favor of employment portals. This trend is also found among recruiters. The Régionsjob survey even reveals that in three years, the use of job boards for recruiting or looking for a job remains in pole position (96%), far ahead of other job search methods, such as unsolicited applications (65%) and social networks (35%). The latter are still considered unimportant: candidates place them on average in 8th position of the most important tools while recruiters rank them 6th.
The same trends exist in Morocco.
It is very interesting to note that the trends are indeed the same in Morocco: as the Internet is increasingly used, job seekers have fully integrated employment portals into their daily search. This is, in fact, their preferred search method, followed by personal contacts, unsolicited applications, far ahead of agencies, the press, with social networks coming in last. 95% of candidates registered on ReKrute.com are looking for a job, actively or passively, while only 15% of social network members use them "from time to time" for employment.
Several factors are hindering the use of social networks such as the non-confidentiality of data, the lack of awareness of functionalities and their added value, many considering them "too complicated". Habits are difficult to overcome!
Their role in job searching or recruitment therefore remains very secondary. The practice exists but remains rare.
Digital identity and employer branding influence...
It nevertheless emerges that social networks and the Internet in general (Googling) are mainly used by companies to obtain additional information (mainly to cross-check CVs).
The same is true for candidates, who conduct online research on companies that post job offers on media or agencies before submitting their application.
Taking care of your online presence seems to be more important than ever, for both companies and candidates.
...but decision-making is done on job sites
According to the survey responses from job seekers*, approximately 30,000 candidates were hired this year via ReKrute.com. This concretely reflects the efficiency of the services that connect recruiters and candidates! These results corroborate the statements of our clients**: no less than 30,780 people have been hired since the beginning of 2012, via ReKrute.com. The preferred and most effective tool is therefore the job site in Morocco, as evidenced by Hasnaa Adli, consultant at GesperServices: "ReKrute.com provides us with a service that meets our needs in terms of both quality and speed: the quality CVs made available to us, the ease of receiving them, not to mention that we sometimes receive CVs from all over the world. All these points are the main reasons for our satisfaction."
*Study conducted with 280 candidates representative of the people registered on our pages (namely 2% baccalaureate level - 18% bac + 2 level - 8% bac + 3 level - 22% bac +4 and 50% bac +5)
** Customer satisfaction study conducted annually with 150 clients.
