14,906 Jobs Created in Tunis!

With the projected 70% surge in unemployed university graduates by 2014, and the major challenge of unemployment weighing heavily even on the most industrialized countries, Tunisia is working during the next five years to boost job creation in all specialties in an initiative to win the battle against unemployment, especially since employability remains one of the key tools for social and economic stability and a top priority in the 2009-2014 electoral program.

With the largest population at 994,900 inhabitants, the Tunis governorate is targeted by almost all programs aimed at employability and the fight against unemployment. However, the job market in Tunis has seen remarkable dynamism in the first 10 months of 2009. This dynamism is explained by the profitability of economic activity, resulting in a 7.17% increase compared to the same period in 2008, or 14,906 job offers, of which 52.62% benefited managers and 96% benefited university graduates registered in the various studies offices in the Tunis region.

As for Services, the sector recorded a 14.16% increase in employment compared to the previous year. Declared investments in this sector also increased by 72%.

It should be noted in this context that the Agency for the Promotion of Industry (API) aims, during this phase, to launch 235 new projects with a total investment of around 103 million 611 thousand dinars, creating 2772 jobs.

This approach concretizes the forward-looking vision of the Head of State, who devoted the 6th point of his 2009-2014 presidential program to "employment, an absolute priority", as a result of which no Tunisian family will remain without work for at least one of its members by 2014, in addition to the creation of 425,000 jobs.

Among the very active mechanisms for employability in Tunisia is the 21-21 National Employment Fund, which has 9858 members, including 527 beneficiaries of the integration program for higher education graduates.
Women and people with disabilities have not been excluded from employment programs in the Tunis governorate, with 48% of jobs being "female" and the integration of 59 people with disabilities, including 9 higher education graduates, into the economic fabric.
