The CGEM welcomed, in a press release dated Wednesday, April 29, 2015, the release of resources needed to implement Unemployment Benefits (IPE).
The first unemployment insurance in Morocco's history, the IPE was enacted on December 1, 2014, but no benefits were granted during the first five months because the state had not yet paid its contribution to the public start-up fund of €46 million (500 million dirhams): €23 million the first year, then €11.5 million for the second and third years.
Officially launched on Friday, April 24, 2015, the IPE will allow the 3,620 people already eligible to receive benefits equivalent to 70% of their reference salary (average salary of the last three years of declared work), capped at the SMIG, if they have lost their job involuntarily.
