OCP boosts employment
Creation of 5,800 new jobs, 15,000 people targeted, training support, etc.: the Office Chérifien des Phosphates has made a major effort to boost employment in the regions where it operates.
With the Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT), it signed a partnership agreement last Wednesday on the training of young people to enable them to acquire the skills necessary for their professional integration. This agreement is part of an employment program involving the creation of 5,800 new jobs for industrial needs and services at the Office's operating sites and complexes throughout Morocco.
This program targets no fewer than 15,000 people with ties to OCP, such as children of retirees or residents near the facilities. It is tailored to the backgrounds and profiles of the beneficiaries, with customized or diploma-granting training.
OCP is committed to financially supporting the training of young beneficiaries from the phosphate mining regions of Morocco, providing scholarships of 2,000 dirhams per month throughout their studies to the children of retirees and residents.
This ambitious project also targets project leaders creating jobs who will receive the necessary financial and technical support to carry out their projects. They will receive technical and financial assistance to succeed in their ventures.
OCP will also undertake specific actions for local populations and OCP retirees in precarious situations and plans to review its subcontracting policy for greater efficiency, while regularly ensuring compliance with its standards in terms of training, safety and working conditions.
With this catalytic role in the subcontracting sector, OCP focuses on the direct quality of service providers and contributes to the creation of indirect jobs.
At the signing ceremony of the training agreement, OCP's CEO, Mustapha Terrab, described it as a strategic partnership with the OFPPT that would, according to him, boost the employability of young people while raising the level of qualification. He also announced that a monitoring committee set up for the occasion would ensure the proper implementation of the terms of this agreement between the two Offices.
As for the head of OFPPT, Larbi Bencheikh, he stressed that the partnership between his Office and OCP would offer young people the opportunity for highly qualifying training, preceding easy integration into the world of work.
