Morocco: The Ministry of Employment tackles the issue of Artisanal Work

No more exploitation of workers with low wages, child apprentices, or deplorable working conditions in dilapidated workshops...

This is what the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs seems to want to eradicate through a bill it has just submitted to the general secretariat of the government and several other ministries concerned. The ministry explains that the bill responds to Morocco's international commitments and, above all, to the demands of European clients and buyers of Moroccan handicrafts. European standards are very strict regarding the manufacturing conditions of products sold on the EU market. This is why the Ministry of Employment has introduced many obligations for employer artisans, such as annual leave, the legal weekly rest, minimum wage, paid holidays, and a maximum working week of 48 hours. For those who violate these provisions, the bill also provides for fines of up to 30,000 DH and even prison sentences of up to 6 months.
